Rainy days in Coastal Delaware don’t have to put a damper on your day. Whether you’re looking for fun, food, or relaxation, here are some of our favorite things to do in Coastal Delaware when it’s raining.

1. Go Shopping

One of the best ways to beat the rainy day blues is by indulging in some retail therapy. Coastal Delaware offers a wide variety of shopping options, from handmade local apparel to an exciting mix of antique shops. (And don’t forget about the deals and steals to be found at the Tanger Outlets in Rehoboth!) If you’d like a break from shopping for jewelry, why not make your own? The Indian River Life Saving Station Museum often offers classes, including a sea glass jewelry-making class. Whether you’re popping into a few shops along the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk, visiting the quaint boutiques of downtown Lewes, or spending a day exploring the many shops and art galleries of Bethany Beach or Ocean View, you’re sure to find a little something special for yourself or your loved ones. Best of all? There is no sales tax in Delaware, so your shopping money goes even further!

2. Go Bowling

If you’re in the mood for some friendly competition, head to a local bowling alley with your friends and family. Lefty’s Alley & Eats in Lewes offers both regular and duck pin bowling (plus axe throwing, karaoke, and a TOPGOLF swing suite). Millsboro Lanes is a laid-back bowling alley with 24 lanes along with snacks and a full-service bar. And Ocean Lanes in Ocean City, MD, is the perfect place to take the family for rainy-day fun.

3. Visit the Arcade

Rain or shine, unleash your inner child at a local arcade. With three locations across Rehoboth Beach, Zelky’s has been a family favorite for over 30 years. Here, you can try your hand at classic and modern arcade games and hopefully win a few prizes while you’re at it. Funland is also a Coastal Delaware tradition, offering rides, food, classic arcade games, and more. (Check the calendar first: it’s open seasonally from Mother’s Day weekend to mid-September.) Want to grab a bite while you play? Ally Oops in Ocean City is just the place to do it.

4. Enjoy a Spa Day

Why not use the rainy day as an excuse to pamper yourself? Ebb and Flow Spa in Lewes offers a full suite of spa services, including facials, massages — even energy work. Urban Float in Rehoboth Beach provides a new approach to wellness: floatation therapy. Simply floating in a near-weightless environment can relieve everyday aches & pains, reduce stress, improve sleep quality, and more. The spa at The Bellmore provides a wide range of sumptuous health and wellness treatments including massages, nail services, reiki, body scrubs, and facials. And the Zen Spa Fenwick Island was recently named Best of Fenwick by Delaware Today. (Plus they offer salon services, too!)

5. Take a Culinary Tour

A rainy day is the perfect time to try one or two (or a few!) local restaurants. Start by sharing fresh oysters at Lewes Oyster House or cheesesteak nachos at The Salted Rim Margarita Bar & Grille. Then, if you’re feeling especially hungry, head to Delmarva Boil Company for a decadent low-country boil. Of course, a gourmet pizza at Pomodoro Pizza is always a good option, too! Next, grab a scoop at King’s Homemade Ice Cream or a slice of Swiss Island Cake from Liquid Assets in Ocean City. Then wash it all down with a cold beer at one of the area’s many breweries. Enjoy!
