It’s time for some fun in the sun! We’ve created a summer guide to Pittsburgh so that you can check out some of our favorite events happening all summer long. Have a great time out there, Pittsburgh.
Independence Day Celebration
July 4 | Point State Park
Pittsburgh’s annual Independence Day Celebration returns to the Point! Bring the whole family for a picnic at historic Point State Park and listen to live music from 4 to 10 pm. There will also be games, face painters, and more — including Summer Soul Line Dancing at 6 pm, 7 pm, and 8 pm.
And then, the day’s main attraction begins! Enjoy spectacular Independence Day fireworks at 9:35 pm. You can even tune in to 100.1 FM KDKA for a live broadcast of a 25-minute fireworks soundtrack paying tribute to Independence Day.
Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix
July 14 – 23 | Schenley Park
The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix began as a one-day race in 1983 and has become a 10-day motorsport festival of races, car shows, and events. This popular event draws over 200,000 — and it’s easy to see why. It’s the area’s premier summer event for hundreds of thousands of automotive enthusiasts, combining charitable fundraising with car shows and vintage sports car racing on city streets. Don’t miss the grand finale: Schenley Park Race Day!
Picklesburgh
July 21 – 23 | Boulevard of the Allies
Did you know: Americans consume 26 billion pickles a year — that’s nine pounds of pickles per person! Celebrate all things pickled at Picklesburgh, a dill-ightful event recently named USA Today’s Best Specialty Food Festival of 2023. Enjoy a pickle juice drinking contest, local vendors, live music, a Li’l Gherkins KidsPlay Activity Area, and get a glimpse of a giant flying Heinz pickle balloon. Because this event keeps growing year after year, this year’s event is being relocated from the Allegheny Riverfront to the Boulevard of the Allies.
Pittsburgh Restaurant Week
August 7 – 14 | Various Locations
Looking to try a new restaurant? Pittsburgh Restaurant Week is the perfect opportunity! Twice a year, dozens of local eateries serve special meals at a discounted price. The hardest part is deciding where to dine. If you need a little help choosing, take a spin on the Pittsburgh Restaurant Week Roulette Wheel to discover (or re-discover!) a great local dining deal to enjoy.
Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival
August 26 – October 1 | West Newton
End your summer with a bang at the Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival. In this 16th Century Medieval Amusement Park, you can watch artisans create original works, enjoy delicious food (including turkey legs!), and take in a full day of entertainment, music, and more. A cast of hundreds of costumed performers makes this festival fun for the whole family. There will even be live jousting and combat, three times a day. Huzzah!
